Adidas Socks

There were various clothing articles that were holy grail items for me growing up. They were always unattainable to some degree, whether it was because my mom won't buy it for me, I could never pull it off, or it's only available in Asia.

  • Off-shoulder shirts (I think growing up, I saw Purps wear a yellow one once, and I really wanted one, but I was too fat and chunky to wear anything that exposed my round "man-shoulders" as my mom calls them. My shopping spree these few weeks that consisted of purely off-shoulder shirts and dresses could probably be understood if I was given a psychological examination.
  • Baby Phat white sneakers with the row of little gems that go up the side and the tiny cat. They resemble Adidas superstars, but with a decidedly more girly spin. Yes, I do own a pair of white Adidas super-stars with black stripes. Now I know why.
  • The school-girl look was an aesthetic I tried to emulate every Halloween, and once in blue moon throughout the rest of the year. Plaid skirts, white dress-shirts, knee-high socks, backpacks, I wanted it all. That would explain why I bought this sailor-shirt from LAPS in both navy blue and white reminiscent of Sailor Moon's school uniform top, which brings me to my latest purchase on Saturday: Adidas white socks both crew-top and knee-high.

How could I resist? They're entirely adorable.

Plus, they make me adorable too.

Grade 4 Lesson 7 What Time Is It? Guessing Game

My fourth-graders are learning how to tell time in Lesson 7, so we played this guessing game about Stella teacher's daily routine for listening period today. The columns are for weekdays and weekends. I was afraid that they might find the activity tedious, but they remained cheerful and engaged the whole way through, amazingly.

The students' worksheet

Here are various powerpoint slides:

It's time for a baseball game!

It's time for coffee!

It's time for the arcade!

It's time for coffee and cake!

It was a short day today with only three fourth-grade classes, so I'll take leave now and get to my to-do list for the day.

  • Finish reading River Town: Two Years on the Yangtze River by Peter Hessler for the book club meeting next Tuesday night.
  • Brainstorm and plan more summer camp activities. We're doing Detective/Spy Camp this year.
  • Review Korean notes
  • Spaland tonight with Lana. Remember to exfoliate and not over-masticate.
P.S: You ever get the feeling that you just know it's going to be a great week? I'm ridin' high.

A Blast at Gimhae Lotte Waterpark

The water park was so much fun. I met up first with Julez, Lana, and SooAh, and we were the first group of our friends to get there, immediately heading for the slides of course.

Memorable Moments

1. Those yummy twister hot dogs sprinkled with some sort of deliciously addictive cheddar powder. They were so good I munched on two.

2. Going into the tidal waves, and SooAh losing her cap, which we later found thankfully.

3. People staring, not because I look like a beached whale in a bikini, but because we were the only ones showing skin. Everybody else was completely covered. We stared at each other with the same thought, "Girl, are you crazy?"

4. Walking the most distance I ever walked as nude as the day I was born. We went up the stairs, down the stairs, through the halls - it just never ended. Well, it's all women anyways, so nobody gave me a second look.

Right after the waterpark, I ate 2 ice-creams to commend myself for my 2 weeks of dieting.
I also feasted on Sunday, at Cafe Primo.

Quiche and salad with a side of hash browns

Chocolate fondant with vanilla ice-cream

It was delicious; the dessert especially was divine. Then I remembered that it's going to be Rose's birthday this upcoming Saturday, and I was going to the beach in the daytime. So for dinner, Deb and I had these for dinner.

She got the berry banana smoothie and I got the kale mango one. Mine's was better, but they were both pretty good. Instagram betches would be proud of our pretentious lifestyles that day, especially when we went to the overpriced supermarket inside Shinsegae just to buy berry smoothies, organic bananas, and Macadamia nuts.

It was a great weekend hanging with old friends, and meeting new ones. Let's do it again in four days.

Gimhae Waterpark T-2

Spaland went well. I had 3 eggs, a sausage, and a plain yogurt for dinner, and went to bed kinda hungry, but woke up weighing the same.

The home stretch starts today, but I had a big breakfast so I wouldn't be third world hungry for lunch.

On a happier note, I went to H&M yesterday after school in hopes of finding a "swimming costume", as Faye calls it. Oh, ye British folks. I managed to find two, along with a few other items on sale.

  • peach pink top
  • black bikini bottoms
  • white top
  • white French cut bottoms
The pink top is extremely padded, and the white one is lightly so. Well, we all know which one I'm wearing on Saturday. Anyways, I'll don't want to stress myself out on Saturday morning speed packing so I'll make a list of things to prepare.

  • ticket
  • epilate, exfoliate, moisturize, mani-pedi
  • swimsuit, t-shirt, shorts, flipflops, towel, plastic bags for wet clothes
  • 2 sets of clothes, under-garments
  • sunblock, insect repellent
  • body stuff, hair stuff, hair brush, hair ties, face stuff, makeup
  • backpack, extra tote, 2 towels
  • phone battery
Korean class after school today, at-home workout tonight.
I was talking in the girls group chat today, and it seems like everyone is full of diet tips and secrets they can't wait to share. Let's produce some results then, guys.

Gimhae Waterpark T-5

Alright, it's still a work in progress. I attempted some sort of follow along cardio video by a channel called Fitness Blender that my summer crew suggested, and my legs are really tired today, which is good.

I'm taking my running shoes to the riverside today for either a jog or a speed walk, depending on how slippery and muddy the track is. Tomorrow I'm playing volleyball with my school so I have to this week's lesson planning done today. After school, I'm heading straight to Centum City, because I'm on a mission. I'm also meeting Bader and Faysian for Spaland around 6:30 or 7.

Will update after lunch.

Friends Make Stupid Things Funny

I literally spent all of last last weekend laughing about caramel macchiatos and toilets with Minnie when she came from Jinju to stay with me for a night. Laughing until you're sweating, out of breath, red in the face, and halfway to your goal of a toned stomach is one of the hallmarks of a great friendship.

This week is the final count-down until Alex's birthday party this Saturday. We're going to Gimhae Lotte Waterpark before drinking, dancing, and being merry at night. Oscar Wilde once said that "between men and women there is no friendship possible...there is passion, enmity, worship, love, but no friendship".  He is in my opinion, one of the most astute, witty, and brilliant writers that ever lived but I must disagree.

There can be friendship between men and women who are not attracted to each other. That's not to say they're not attractive people. It's just that there's no attraction there.
If there is one-sided attraction but the feelings are well-hidden, they can still be friends.
If the one-sided attraction is obvious with flirting and hinting, but the other person pretends they don't notice or plays it off cool, they can still be friends.
If the attraction is mutual, but no one ever says anything due to courage or circumstance, they can also stay friends.

Well, that's that.

So for Alex's b-day, I have no swimsuit or beach body. I'm contemplating my chances of obtaining both in a week, and my prospects look bleak.

A golden memory for the future - Today, I went to Seoul with Hoda, and got a tattoo.
